Came as an out of town guest and it was beautiful! A great gym with clean equipment, and tons of it. The locker rooms feel like a spa and the pool amenities are outstanding. Had a bite from the Cafe and that was delicious. So many gluten free options. I wish I lived in town so I could come back regularly. It's absolutely beautiful!
Very disappointed with the customer service. I signed up for a family membership last year and recently broke up. I went in and asked if I could switch out the members for my family that I am currently living with instead of paying for a family membership for just myself. I was told that shouldn't be a problem but they had to submit a ticket to Chicago. Chicago emailed me back a couple days later and said there is nothing they would do until my year membership was up. I could understand if I was asking them to downgrade my membership but the change I'm asking for costs them nothing. My brother who I would be adding was a long time midtown member too who left due to cost. Likely would have ended up at the end of the year contract with my renewing as a single and him getting a family membership. Instead I will just cancel when my year is up and he won't be going back. Everyone loses and the club gains nothing.
I went as a guest in 2018 and the facility is amazing, gorgeous, and very clean. The club itself was great and had incredible amenities. I removed a star because my experience with the other members felt absolutely insane. Understandably, there is a no phones in the locker room policy, many signs displayed saying so. A woman removed her phone from her gym bag to place in her locker and took maybe three seconds to silence the ringer. Another woman got all up in her personal space and started YELLING at her for several minutes about the no phones rule, unrelenting and physically venturing at her, standing between the woman and her locker. The phone was not pointed at anything and was being operated within the locker to even avoid the inkling of taking photos or videos. Okay, so don't even attempt to place your phone in a locker or else you may get accosted up close and personal with a fully nude woman borderline threatening to bump you and smack your hand.
Also in the locker room, several instances of fully nude woman sprawled out on the benches reading books or on their phones (???) Taking up entire bench spaces in the locker areas with their private areas all over shared surfaces.
The person I was a guest to took me into the sauna and I had to take my glasses off before hand because of the steam aso I couldn't see. I WHISPERED "where is the bench?" And another woman shushed us so aggressively and then berated us for "destroying the personal enjoyment of others. A huge blow up over a single whisper. After that, we sat in silence for maybe 5 minutes before finally leaving because the woman kept loudly shushing us and berating us for making noise and being inconsiderate even though the only sounds where us breathing normally.
All in all, the facility seems like an awesome resource for all aspects of health and wellness, however I think the insane clientele during that one trip would probably have deterred me from getting a membership. I would feel as though I could not peacefully enjoy the amenities without being hostilely micromanaged by random people and their own sense of vigilante justice.
Extremely disappointed with this gym. Continue to bill us even after our membership was cancelled. Local people in Rochester say they can't help and must talk to Chicago. Chicago doesn't respond. Three price increases in the last year. Watch out!
My partner and I joined Midtown in early February. We were a bit hesitant to pull the trigger due to the price. A few months in and we both agree that it was one of the best decisions that we've made in a long time!!! Their classes are all amazing - our favorite being Monday Pilates Amped with Jason. We're both feeling stronger than ever and look forward to our workouts. The facilities are all beautiful and clean. We can't wait for the warmer weather so we can utilize the pool outside. If you are on the fence about joining, DO IT!! You won't regret it.
I love midtown. Amazing gym, clean facility, the staff are amazing and always greet you with positivity and a smile on their faces, lots of amenities, classes are amazing, the food and protein shakes are amazing, spa is wonderful. I’d like to give a special shout-out to Bonnie for being extremely attentive to any questions I have and for making sure my experience at the gym is going well. I’d also like to give a shout-out to Jared and Brett for making classes fun yet challenging and working with you to better your health. Truly feels like a community rather than just “going to the gym.” Highly recommend!
I just became a member today. Karen was amazing! She explained everything fully to me and my business partner and gave an awesome tour. We were sold just entering the building, she just sealed the deal! Being able to use what I want and not having to wait 15 minutes at like an LA fitness is elite. I am looking forward to the experience as I am someone who love the gym, but wished I had all of the “resort” like amenities (found it!) having an off day? Just go there for the steam rooms with the eucalyptus pouring out and relax!! The people saying it’s expensive for what you get, I think $5 a day is actually a pretty sweet deal…you can go try planet fitness if that is more up your ally. 😬
PS: we got 120 minutes of free things of our choosing, we already set up a 30 min massage. 🙏🏼
Love MidTown! Great facilities, always clean, superb customer service, and friendly members. Definitely worth the price.
